Character Name: Skyfire
Fandom: Transformers G1 AU
Appearance:

World: The general specifics of the world is that it's a mix of the G1 Transformers cartoon and our Earth's history for dates and places. Granted, most of the cartoon history doesn't apply as it either takes place before the war started or in a time frame not covered by the show.
Character History:
That's where the similarities end though.
Unlike in the cartoon, Skyfire's scanners were damaged and activated, creating an attempt to blend into the new environment that caused an unexpected reaction. Unable to find any mechanical items to scan, the scanners went for the only thing even remotely close to his size and shape to scan... A dragon.
Damaged as he was, the reconfiguration was not only flawed, but altered as well. He still crashed and was buried in the ice, but now his systems were still active and working to make his new form work. After spending several million years under the ice, his 'new' form was integrated, resulting in a form much like those from Beast Machines (Only they do not exist in this AU). He could no longer shift between modes, though the ability is still there, but the protocols are corrupted and he can not fix them himself.
Being an explorer, Skyfire was carrying a number of resources, like pieces of equipment for studying items and experimental projects to test. Since his reformatting was flawed, lots of things that should not have been used, were, resulting both in a rather lucky and unlucky set of changes.
He no longer needs to fuel on energon to survive, thanks to the solar circuits and panels that were integrated into his wings as well as the thermal condensers in body. Consuming metal, rocks and water, will also help him gather what he needs to help repair himself and to a minor degree, keep him powered. As long as there is a source of heat, light or metal, he'll be able to do without energon. That's not to say he couldn't consume energon if it were available, just that he doesn't need it to survive.
Unfortunately, with the new shape comes new problems as well. He's locked into that shape and unable to shift out of it, and while he can still access his subspace to a limited degree, most of what was in it had been fused into his systems to make his new form work. There were a few things remaining, like some tools and datapads, but he'd have to find a way to power them without being able to hook them into his systems to recharge.
Having to learn the in's and out's of a new body is not an easy task either, and trying to get used to having a synthetic 'skin' over his body that actually relays the feeling of touch and hurts when it's damaged, takes some getting used to. While consuming metal and such will help him heal, it's a slow process now, and one that he can't turn off the pain receptors to anymore either. Learning that his ability to scan his surroundings had been severely hampered, he had to learn to get by without all the sensory imput data he was used to and spend time learning to decode the information that his new 'skin' was providing.
Being able to breathe fire was something that really shocked him, but it did make sense... His thrusters had to be integrated some how, and since his new form didn't need them for propulsion, it was about the only place that made sense.
His new hand like paws were very interesting to him. With retractable claws and an opposable 'thumb', he had to relearn how to hold things, and also how to walk on four legs instead of two. He spent a fair bit of time just recovering after various crashes as he tried to get used to flying again. Learning to coordinate seven limbs without various flight systems was hard, relearning to fly wasn't so bad, but the landings were the pits... Though calling his first few attempts 'landings' was pushing it, he wasn't too proud to admit he crashed, a lot.
The first encounter he had with humans was a horrible thing, and he spent weeks trying to recover from all the slashes, cuts and arrow wounds that had been inflicted on him. Skyfire just couldn't understand why they had reacted like that, and it bothered him deeply. The animals on the planet had no problems with him, even the plant eaters that would normally run from creatures of his size would come and visit him, so why did the humans seem to hate him?
Things did slowly improve over time, but he never really did have an easy time of it...
Character Personality: He's friendly and outgoing, but becoming a bit resigned to the fact he may never get home or return to his bipedal form. He's still a dreamer, but after a couple of hundred years on earth, it's tempered with a more grounded realization that some dreams just might not happen. It's been a bit of a rough lesson for him to learn just how short an organic's life is, and while he still wants to make friends, it really hits him hard to lose them.
While he isn't really prone to fits of depression, he does tend to try and hide away from his problems at times. Often spending fifty or sixty years at a time in solitude, just working on small projects to occupy himself. It's not that he wants to be alone, but more that he needs the time to grieve and decompress. Spending some time coming to terms with the rather rapid changes in such a fast moving, organic world.
Alignment: Good.
Powers and Abilities: Mostly covered in the history section: Flight, flame breath, scanners (mostly non functional), and very sharp retractable claws. He's still an inventor and scientist too... so he does create some things over time, but nothing too crazy.
